From Cape Town International Airport

  • From Cape Town International, follow Settlers Way/N2 in the direction of Cape Town for about 10 kilometres.
  • Take the Liesbeek Parkway/M57 off-ramp to your left, and keep right.
  • Cross the first set of traffic lights to your right (under the bridge) and continue on Liesbeek Parkway/M57.
  • At the third set of traffic lights, turn left onto Link Road, and the first right into Fir Street.
  • Drive along Fir Street, and the SARAO building will be on your left, shortly before you enter the North Gate.

From Cape Town City Centre

  • Take the N2 towards Somerset West/Cape Town International Airport.
  • Take the Liesbeek Parkway/M57 off-ramp on the left, and continue left.
  • Continue on Liesbeek Parkway/M57. At the second set of traffic lights, turn left onto Link Road, and the first right into Fir Street.
  • Drive along Fir Street, and the SARAO building will be on your left, shortly before you enter the North Gate.

From Cape Town International Airport 

  • Take Airport Approach Road towards the N2 (south) towards the Cape Town city centre.
  • Take the M5 (Kromboom Parkway) towards Paarl. Take the N1 towards Paarl, and again the N7 towards Malmesbury.
  • Follow the N7, R27 and R63 for 651 kilometres to reach Carnarvon.
  • About 11 kilometres before reaching Carnarvon, turn left into the road that indicates the road to SKA Centre, Vertrapkolk and Brandvlei.
  • Proceed for 3 kilometres and turn left into the Klerefontein Support Base entrance.

  • Follow the R21 (North)
  • Use the left lane to take Exit 134 for the N1 highway towards Johannesburg.
  • Merge onto the N1.

  • Take Exit 309 for the R511 towards Sandton/Hartebeespoort.
  • Turn left onto the R511.
  • Turn left onto Koedoe Road.
  • Turn left onto the R114.
  • Turn left onto the R144/R511.
  • Turn left to stay on the R511.
  • Turn left onto Elias Motsoaledi Street/R104.
  • Continue onto the R512.
  • Turn left onto the R3.
  • Continue onto the R400 for 9 kilometres. HartRAO will be on your right.

From Lanseria International Airport 

  • Head Northwest on Airport Road towards Ashenti Road
  • Turn left onto Ashenti Road.
  • Use the right two lanes to turn tight onto the Pelindaba Road/R512.
  • Turn left onto the R512.
  • Turn left onto the R3.
  • Continue onto the R400 for 9 kilometres. HartRAO will be on your right.
