The StarBiz Ideation Challenge is an internal SARAO initiative designed to encourage staff members to use their expertise and experience to develop innovative commercialisation projects that either use SARAO technology or provide solutions to projects within SARAO.

The participants will have an opportunity to pitch their ideas to fellow colleagues and request endorsement through a financial pledge (from an allocated budget of R10 000).

The StarBiz Ideation Challenge was initiated in 2016. Participants had to raise funds through internal crowdfunding from staff, with funds allocated for the project. To date, there are eight projects currently running and supported by SARAO.
