E-Seminars Series

The e-seminars are a series of public talks focusing on the South African and broader African contribution to cutting-edge radio astronomy research, as well as scientific, technical and human capital advancements in the field that will further increase the radio astronomy footprint on the African continent.

Experiment design and the Radio Experiment for the Analysis of Cosmic Hydrogen
Eloy's research, funded by STFC, is on 21-cm cosmology: Cosmic Dawn, Epoch of Reionization.
The challenge of foregrounds
Marta did her Ph.D. in France on Planck data analysis.
Observations of the 21-cm line from cosmic Hydrogen
Gianni is currently a research staff at the Institute of Radio Astronomy (Bologna, Italy) and a visiting professor at Rhodes University (Makanda, SA).
Cosmic dawn and the epoch of re-ionization (theory)
Anastasia grew up in Kazakhstan, Undergrad & PhD in Tel Aviv University, Israel.
Pulsar searching: Making discoveries
Ben is a Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Introduction to radio astronomy
Radio Astronomy has revealed a “parallel universe” of unexpected sources not previously seen. Providing us with a broad window into the universe since almost all types of astronomical sources, thermal and nonthermal, as well as propagation phenomena, can be observed at radio wavelengths. It is also a wonderful time machine, with many sources seen at lookback times comparable with the age of the universe.
The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence with MeerKAT and Breakthrough Listen
An introduction to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) with MeerKAT and Breakthrough Listen. Breakthrough Listen's exciting commensal SETI survey with MeerKAT is discussed, alongside MeerKAT's unique capabilities for SETI.
