The National Research Foundation (NRF) supports and promotes research and human capital development through funding, the provision of National Research Facilities and science outreach platforms and programmes to the broader community in all fields of science and technology, including natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities.
The South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) spearheads South Africa’s activities in the Square Kilometre Array Radio Telescope, commonly known as the SKA, in engineering, science and construction. SARAO is a National Facility managed by the National Research Foundation and incorporates radio astronomy instruments and programmes such as the MeerKAT telescope in the Karoo, the Hartebeesthoek Radio Astronomy Observatory (HartRAO) in Gauteng, the African Very Long Baseline Interferometry (AVN) programme in nine African countries as well as the associated human capital development and commercialisation endeavours.
The Enrolled Nurse will provide medical assistance and support to all SARAO/SKAO staff and Contractors. Provide assistance to the Occupational Health Practitioner in the day to day implementation of health care requirements of the Klerefontein Support Base.
Key Responsibilities:
* Record keeping of medical information and administrative duties.
* Coordination of incidents, accidents and injuries reports.
* Support SARAO wellness activities.
* Emergency Response and Mock drills.
* Monitor and support professional categories towards achieving a quality health service.
* Maintain adequate stock levels in all SARAO first aid boxes.
* Preparation of Doctors appointments on a regular basis.
* Maintain adequate medical inventory levels.
* Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to plan and manage patient/employee care.
* Perform all medical surveillance test on current and new employees.
Key Requirements:
Qualification:
* Enrolled Nursing Qualification
* Registration with SANC (South African Nursing Council)
* Register at SASOHN (South African Society of Occupational Health Nursing) in Audiometry as an Audiometrist (Advantageous)
* Spirometry (Advantageous)
* Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.)
* Driver’s license
Experience:
4 years post qualification experience in nursing as an enrolled nurse.
Knowledge:
* Knowledge and understanding of generally, accepted healthcare practices and procedures.
* Knowledge of Primary Health Care.
* Occupational Health screening procedures.
* Relevant nursing policies, procedures and legislation.
