Applications are now open for the Pan-African School for Emerging Astronomers (PASEA) 2026, which will take place 14–18 September 2026 at the Centre for Space Research (CSR), North-West University, South Africa.
PASEA is open to teachers, undergraduate students, and postgraduate students, across Africa, with an interest in astronomy and space science.
The science program will feature lectures from leading researchers in their fields, combined with practical hands-on sessions organised around a daily scientific theme aligned with the research conducted at the NWU Centre for Space Research. Each day will focus on a specific topic, with lectures and practical activities designed to reinforce the same theme.
The school will include:
• Pen-and-paper problem sessions designed for teachers and undergraduate students, focusing on core concepts in astronomy and astrophysics.
• Hands-on data analysis sessions for postgraduate students, using real research tools and datasets.Applications can be submitted by accessing the application form via the “Apply Here” link on the electronic poster or by scanning the QR code provided on the poster. The application deadline is Friday, 17 April 2026 at 17:00 SAST.
We warmly encourage interested participants from across Africa to apply and to share this announcement with colleagues and students who may benefit from the school.
