Summary:

South Africa (SARAO) has been responsible for managing the development of the SPF systems and to develop the detailed designs of some of the SPF components. SARAO wants to industrialise these components to prepare for delivering these components in the construction phase with the first production run being for the first 20 (MK+) of the 133 identical SKA Dishes of the SKA_MID design. South Africa has expressed a keen interest in delivering these components as part of its contribution to the SKA_MID construction.

Summary:

The South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) manages the radio astronomy observatories located in the Karoo (Northern Cape) and Hartbeestfontein (Gauteng). The objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to render security services for the SKA site in the Karoo.

The NRF acquired two farms during 2007 to provide for the construction of the KAT-7 and MeerKat Radio telescope. During 2012, South Africa was appointed as one of the two countries to host the SKA Radio Telescope. To provide for the construction and protection of the SKA Radio Telescope, the NRF acquired additional land over a 2-year period from 2015 to 2017. The SKA site now covers 135 245 hectares in extent.

Summary:

SARAO seeks to outsource mobile trunk radio business operation and infrastructure support of the radio network deployed through NRF bid number SKA N0004-0004. This bid invitation is for a service provider to operationalise and manage the trunk radio telecommunications business, which includes paying out a monthly operational expenditure to third parties, as listed in Table 1 below, and receiving the income from end users of the network as illustrated in Figure 5. Electronic Communications Service Licence from the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) is a mandatory requirement for a service provider to be able to provide mobile trunk radio business operations and infrastructure support over the radio network deployed by SARAO. Figure 5, Cash Flow Chart of the trunk radio system identify a fixed monthly expenditure of R 179 243.49 and the variable monthly income that gradually increase to R 86 100.00 if the end users in the KCAAAs pay R100 per month.
