Mulalo Masisi is a skilled web developer and social media specialist at the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO), a National Research Foundation facility at the forefront of radio astronomy in South Africa. Born and raised in Limpopo, Mulalo brings a unique blend of technical expertise and digital communication savvy to SARAO, enhancing its online platforms and global outreach.
At SARAO, Mulalo designs and maintains the organization’s digital presence, ensuring they are secure, efficient, and user-friendly for stakeholders of projects like the and the Square Kilometre Array (SKA). As a social media specialist, they create engaging content that showcases SARAO’s scientific breakthroughs, connecting with audiences worldwide and making astronomy accessible to all. Their work strengthens SARAO’s digital footprint, supporting its mission to lead in astronomical research and innovation.
Mulalo’s career is built on a strong academic foundation: a BSc in Information Technology from the University of the Free State, where they developed a solid grounding in IT systems, followed by a BSc Honours in Computer Science from the University of Venda, where they advanced their expertise in programming and computational solutions. Before joining SARAO, Mulalo worked at the University of Venda in the Communications and Marketing department, serving as a Website Content Officer. There, they managed digital content, collaborated on university initiatives, and sharpened their skills in web development and online engagement—experience that now fuels their contributions at SARAO.
