Congratulations to Prof. Phil Diamond, the Director General of Square Kilometre Array Observatory on being awarded the Commander of the Order of British Empire (CBE) for services to Global Radio Astronomy
The CBE is appointed to individuals for having a prominent role at national level, or a leading role at regional level. CBEs are also appointed for distinguished and innovative contribution to any area. “On behalf of SARAO, we congratulate Prof. Diamond on receiving this prestigious award. The award is a recognition of his stellar work in leading the SKAO as the DG.” said Pontsho Maruping, Managing Director of SARAO. Before joining the SKAO, Prof Diamond was the director of the Jodell Bank Centre for Astrophysics from 1 October 2006 – 2010. He was also the chief of CSIRO’s Astronomy and Space Sciences Division from 1 June 2010 until he left in October 2012 to become the DG of the SKAO.
