SARAO Science Engagement team exhibits at Eding Festival
SARAO was represented at the Eding Science Festival that took place at the Jack Botes Hall in Polokwane between 17 and 21 April 2023.
Two SARAO staff members, Simphiwe Madlanga from the Science Engagement team in the Communications unit and Dzialwa Ramulongo, a Telescope Operator at SARAO, engaged with learners and educators at the event, which was the first post-Covid Eding Science Festival to be held.
About 1000 learners attended the event accompanied by their educators, and participated in the lively sessions. The learners hailed from schools from around Polokwane and the Capricorn District.
“This was Dzialwa’s first experience in Science Engagement but she quickly adapted, and was able to engage the learners and share about the work that she does and about SARAO as an organisation. We engaged with the audience and also provided some information about study and career opportunities that we have experienced and what SARAO supports through the various Human Capital Development initiatives,” says Madlanga.
