MeerKAT Extension wins at CESA awards
Engineering Consultancy group Zutari was this week awarded the winner in the “Projects ranging between R50m to less than R250m” category for the SKA MeerKAT Extension project at the Consulting Engineers of South Africa (CESA) AON Engineering Excellence Awards.
The annual awards ceremony showcase projects that have demonstrated engineering excellence, sustainability and social impact.
The MeerKAT Extension project consists of the design and construction of the infrastructure for the MeerKAT Extension phase of the SKA1_MID project near Carnarvon in the Northern Cape. The contract included the 24 foundations with access elements as well as the electrical and fibre reticulation. The complete design verification and design of the access and foundation elements for the remaining 109 dish positions was also included as part of the contract.
