Ofentse Nobela joined SARAO in October 2025 as a Commercialisation Specialist in the Innovation Management unit. Nobela holds a BSc degree in Biochemistry, a B.Tech, and an M.Tech in Biotechnology, all obtained from the University of Johannesburg. She also recently graduated with an LLB from Unisa.

At SARAO, Nobela’s mission is to take all NRF research and innovation from lab phase to market.

Before joining the organisation, Nobela, who hails from Soweto in Johannesburg, worked as an intern at the Innovation Hub Management Company as an innovation officer in the Bio-Economy unit. She also worked at Andrews Academy as a teacher and at the South African Essential Oils Incubator as a research and development technician.
