Professor Oleg Smirnov – SARAO Research Chair in Radio Astronomy Techniques and Technologies (RATT) at Rhodes University

Professor Oleg Smirnov is a distinguished expert in radio astronomy and holds the SARAO Research Chair in Radio Astronomy Techniques and Technologies (RATT) at Rhodes University. He is also the head of the Radio Astronomy Research Group at the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO). His work primarily focuses on the development of calibration and imaging algorithms, as well as data processing and software infrastructure for next-generation radio telescopes, including the MeerKAT telescope and its precursor, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA)​.
