Ofaletse Mokone is a functional manager:software and a software engineer at the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO), contributing significantly to various projects and initiatives. He has been involved in the Control and Monitoring team, playing a key role in producing MeerKAT images. In 2017, Mokone and his team won the Best Poster Award at the International Conference on Accelerator and Large Experimental Physics Control Systems (ICALEPCS) for their work titled “MeerKAT Project.” Additionally, he served as the Conference Co-Chair for ICALEPCS 2023, hosted by SARAO in Cape Town. Mokone has also engaged with learners and teachers, demonstrating his commitment to mentorship, education and outreach.
