Dr Romeo Gamatham – Research Scientist: Time and Frequency Systems

Dr R. R. G. Gamatham completed his undergraduate at the University of Namibia (UNAM) majoring in pure/applied Mathematics and Physics. He received his Masters degree in Physics (cum laude) from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU). In 2013 he received his PhD in Physics from NMMU. His doctoral research work conducted at the Centre of Broadband Communication in the Physics department, focused on nonlinear effects in optical fibres. During his PhD he worked as a research intern at the University of Padua as well as at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) where he worked on Raman amplification and optical generated Ultra-Wideband (UWB) transmission respectively. Dr Gamatham has been with NRF SARAO for almost a decade, first working in the Signal Transport and Networks department. He is currently working as a research scientist at NRF SARAO.
