Dr. Sean Passmoor – Senior Operations Scientist
Dr. Sean Passmoor is a researcher affiliated with the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO). He has contributed to the field of radio astronomy, particularly through his work with the MeerKAT telescope. Dr. Passmoor’s work includes capturing detailed images of galaxies, such as the M83 galaxy, which has been instrumental in understanding the dynamics and mass distribution of such systems.
In 2024, Dr. Passmoor participated in the International Astronomical Union (IAU) General Assembly held in Cape Town, representing SARAO.
Additionally, Dr. Passmoor has been involved in the discovery of significant astronomical phenomena, including the identification of a giant radio galaxy named ‘Inkathazo’ using MeerKAT data. His contributions have been pivotal in advancing our understanding of the universe through radio astronomy.
