Tesla Minions Triumph at 2023 FIRST Lego League Northern Cape Robotics competition

In a thrilling showcase of creativity, innovation, and engineering prowess, the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) hosted the 2023 FIRST Lego League Northern Cape Provincial Robotics competition at Carnarvon High School on Saturday, 4 November 2023.
Teams from across the region gathered to present their LEGO robots, each designed to tackle a series of challenges that put their technical skills and problem-solving abilities to the test. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the teams navigated their creations through the intricate tasks set forth by the competition.
After a day of intense competition, it was the Tesla Minions who emerged victorious, claiming the championship title. The team’s exceptional performance showcased not only their dedication and teamwork but also their ability to tackle complex challenges with creative solutions.
The Tesla Minions’ winning streak has earned them a coveted invitation to the Nationals in Johannesburg, scheduled for 1 – 2 December 2023 at the SciBono Discovery Centre in Johannesburg. This prestigious event, hosted through the FirstSA, brings together the brightest young minds in robotics from across the country.

As the Tesla Minions, Sharp Shooters, Music Masters, Zero 2 Heroes and Robot Rangers prepare to represent the Northern Cape at the Nationals in Johannesburg, the entire community is buzzing with anticipation. The journey from Carnarvon High School to the national stage is a testament to the hard work and dedication exhibited by these young robotics enthusiasts.
