Pulsar searching: Making discoveries

About the Presenter:

Ben is a Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. He is originally from New Zealand and got his PhD from the Australian National University in Canberra before working for a decade in the Netherlands. His research centres on searching for pulsars and fast radio transients and using them as probes of physical theories and the properties of the Universe.  He also works on the design and specification of instruments and telescopes, including LOFAR, MeerKAT and the Square Kilometre Array for studying pulsars and fast radio transients. Ben currently leads a team working on using MeerKAT to search for new pulsars and also Fast Radio Bursts.
