Observations of the 21-cm line from cosmic Hydrogen

About the Presenter:

Gianni is currently a research staff at the Institute of Radio Astronomy (Bologna, Italy) and a visiting professor at Rhodes University (Makanda, SA). His main research activity is 21 cosmology, using the redshifted 21 cm line emitted from neutral Hydrogen as a probe to study the formation of the first structures in the Universe and the consequent evolution of the intergalactic medium. In order to do so he and his colleagues have been using individual dipoles as well as large interferometric arrays operating at low radio frequencies in the pursuit of this elusive cosmological signal.
