Interferometric imaging

In this lecture we formalize the relationship between the visibility (measurement) space of the interferometer and the sky brightness distribution through the VCZ relationship. This is a Fourier relationship in the case of East-West aligned arrays. We discuss the effect of missing samples in the synthesized aperture on the image and how we use deconvolution to remove these artifacts and to construct a model for further calibration in a process called self-calibration.
